When is the NFL Draft in 2021? Date, time, pick order, location, TV channels & updated mock drafts.
The 2021 NFL Draft may have learned some fun lessons from its 2020 counterpart.
The 2020 edition was forced to be virtual for the first time, leading to views of head coaches in living rooms with their kids and raw excitement from draftees sitting at their home being taken into the NFL. It probably gave the league plenty of ideas of how to spice up the proceedings in 2021 with COVID-19 not totally out of the way.
The 2021 NFL Draft is slated to take place in Cleveland for the first time ever, but finalization of location likely won't come until closer to the end of April draft start. There will also be a first on the television side for the 2021 NFL Draft ??” it will be broadcast exclusively by NFL Network.
Here's everything you need to know about the 2021 NFL Draft, including the time, location, television schedule, draft order and the latest mock draft from Sporting News.
MOCK DRAFT 2021:
When is the NFL Draft in 2021?
Date : Thursday, April 29 (Round 1) | Friday, April 30 (Rounds 2-3) | Saturday, May 1 (Rounds 4-7) Start time : 8 p.m. ET (Thursday) | 7 p.m. ET (Friday) | Noon ET (Saturday) TV channel : NFL Network Live stream : NFL app.
As the NFL has done for a while now, the draft will be split into three distinct days. Only the first round will take place on Thursday, April 29. The second and third rounds will take place on Friday night, and then the final four rounds of the draft will be conducted Saturday.
After the 2020 NFL Draft was conducted in a heavily virtual manner due to COVID-19, it hasn't yet been determined exactly how much of the draft will take place in the host city in 2021.
Where is the 2021 NFL Draft?
The 2021 NFL Draft is slated to take place in Cleveland, Ohio. That decision was made on May 22, 2019, at the league's annual spring meeting.
More specifics about Cleveland's hosting have yet to be totally announced in 2021 with the COVID-19 pandemic still hovering over the heads of decision-makers. Depending on the effectiveness of vaccines leading up to the draft, there could be a central hub in Cleveland while many of the draftees remain virtual, but that remains to be seen.
Below are the previous locations of the NFL Draft.
Draft Location City 1936 Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia 1937 Hotel Lincoln New York 1938 Hotel Sherman Chicago 1939 Hotel New Yorker New York 1940 Schroeder Hotel Milwaukee 1941 Willard Hotel Washington, D.C. 1942-44 Palmer House Chicago 1945-47 Hotel Commodore New York 1948 Hotel Fort Pitt Pittsburgh 1949-50 Bellevue-Stratford Hotel Philadelphia 1951 Blackstone Hotel Chicago 1952 Hotel Statler New York 1953-54 Bellevue-Stratford Hotel Philadelphia 1955 Warwick Hotel New York 1956 Bellevue-Stratford Hotel (Rounds 1-3) Philadelphia ??‹ Ambassador Hotel (Rounds 4-30) Los Angeles 1957 Warwick Hotel (Rounds 1-4) Philadelphia ??‹ Bellevue-Stratford Hotel (Rounds 5-30) Philadelphia 1958-61 Warwick Hotel Philadelphia 1962-64 Sheraton Hotel Chicago 1965-66 Summit Hotel New York 1967 Hotel Gotham New York 1968-71 Belmont Plaza Hotel New York 1972 Essex House New York 1973-74 Americana Hotel New York 1975 Hilton Hotel New York 1976-78 Roosevelt Hotel New York 1979 Waldorf New York 1980-83 Sheraton Hotel New York 1984-85 Omni Park Central Hotel New York 1986-94 Marriott Marquis New York 1995-04 Theatre at Madison Square Garden New York 2005 Jacob Javits Convention Center New York 2006-14 Radio City Music Hall New York 2015-16 Auditorium Theatre at Roosevelt University Chicago 2017 Benjamin Franklin Parkway Philadelphia 2018 AT&T Stadium Dallas??‹ 2019 Lower Broadway Nashville 2020 Caesar's Palace Hotel (held virtually) Las Vegas.
What time does the NFL Draft start?
The NFL could still choose to deviate from its past standard times for health and safety reasons, but the 2021 NFL Draft will likely start at the same times the drafts in recent years have.
That means prime time slots for each of the first three rounds. The first round on Thursday, April 29, gets going at 8 p.m. ET. Things start an hour earlier the next day to fit in both the second and third rounds. And Saturday's four rounds get underway at Noon ET.
Day Rounds Start time Thursday Round 1 8 p.m. ET Friday Rounds 2-3 7 p.m. ET Saturday Rounds 4-7 Noon ET.
As the draft goes on, teams get different lengths of time to make their selections. The first round provides 10 minutes to teams to pick, and that drops to seven minutes for rounds two and three. Rounds four through six have five minute pick times, and it's four minutes for the seventh and final round.
NFL Draft TV schedule.
The 2021 NFL Draft will be shown exclusively on NFL Network. That's a change from last year, when ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC were all involved in the draft coverage.
Most cable and satellite providers offer NFL Network as part of their base package, as do most streaming services.
Round Day Start time TV channels Round 1 Thursday 8 p.m. ET NFL Network Rounds 2-3 Friday 7 p.m. ET NFL Network Rounds 4-7 Saturday 12 p.m. ET NFL Network.

NFL Point Spread Pick.
Well, we made it to the end of the season. It??™s sad to see the NFL winding down, but we??™ve still got one great game left as the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers square off in the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes will get his chance at revenge on Tom Brady after falling to him in the AFC Championship game two seasons ago.
Oddsmakers have the Chiefs as a three-point favorite, which feels a bit light to me for several reasons. One factor to keep in mind here is that the game is being played in the Buccaneers??™ stadium, although I don??™t think there will be any home-field advantage to speak of. There will be a limited amount of fans at the game, and many of those tickets are being given away by the league. It??™s not as if there is going to be a huge contingent of loud Bucs fans, and if anything I wouldn??™t be surprised if Chiefs fans end up outnumbering them.
Moving to the on-field matchup, I don??™t see how the Chiefs fail to have success throwing the ball. Tampa??™s young secondary is exploitable, and every time they??™ve faced a quarterback who can push it downfield they??™ve been exposed. They might have looked good against an aging Drew Brees with a torn labrum, but the week before that they made Taylor Heinicke look like a franchise quarterback. The Chiefs won by three points when these teams played in Tampa during the regular season, but the game wasn??™t as close as that final score indicates. Kansas City was up 17 in the fourth quarter before a couple of late Bucs touchdowns closed the margin. Remember, this is a Tampa Bay team that won all of one game against teams with winning records during the regular season and their playoff run has been very flukey thus far. Brady was mostly horrible against Green Bay as he tossed three interceptions, and it took an extreme series of miscues by the Packers for them to win that game. Their luck may finally run out here.
NFL Game Totals Pick.
The under also makes some sense here because everybody seems to be underrating this Chiefs defense. Kansas City defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo used the regular season to tinker with his schemes, and he??™s been a wizard so far in the playoffs. He just completely shut down Josh Allen and that vaunted Buffalo passing game, limiting Allen to just 6.0 yards per attempt??“ and that number actually got inflated a lot by garbage time. Again, Brady hasn??™t actually played well the past couple of weeks; his opponents just gifted him countless easy opportunities. Against the Saints, Tampa Bay??™s three touchdown drives went for a combined 63 yards because of the short fields they were given off turnovers. Playing the Chiefs now, they aren??™t going to be so fortunate with the starting field position.
While I think the Chiefs??™ offense will have opportunities for success, they aren??™t going to cover this number by themselves. Tampa Bay??™s pass-rush could potentially pose some problems, especially with Mahomes less mobile due to the turf toe he is dealing with. Those problems will only be exacerbated by the absence of left tackle Eric Fisher, who tore his Achilles in the AFC Championship game. This Kansas City secondary is legit and their pass-rush really came alive against Buffalo. The Buccaneers??™ defensive front, with the recently healed Vita Vea, should wreak enough havoc to keep this one from going over a total in the mid-50s.

When you aren??™t 100% confident in which team is going to win in an NFL game, or would rather wager on the game, rather than a team, another exciting way to still get in on the action is with totals wagers. In these bets you don??™t take a side, but whether the two teams will combine to score over or under the total number of points that the oddsmakers have set. This is why last-second field goals in 24 point blowouts are still edge-of-your-seat moments as they can push the total over or under the set line. NFL 2021 playoffs schedule: Buccaneers vs. Chiefs in Super Bowl LV, time, date, TV channel, streaming.
Here's the schedule for the entire NFL postseason.
With Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes going head to head in another postseason showdown, a Super Bowl LV shootout can be expected. The Buccaneers and Chiefs advanced to Super Bowl LV, and if you're wondering how they arrived in Tampa, we're about to break it all down.
Brady and the Bucs are already lined up to make history on Super Bowl Sunday by becoming the first team to play the Super Bowl in their home stadium. Brady -- who's no stranger to making history -- will be making plenty this week. Not only will Brady be making his record 10th Super Bowl appearance, but he also became the second quarterback in NFL history to lead an AFC and NFC team to the big game (Craig Morton did it with the Cowboys and Broncos). If the Buccaneers can beat the Chiefs, Brady would become just the second quarterback to win a Super Bowl with multiple teams matching Peyton Manning, who did it with the Colts and Broncos.
Super Bowl LV is almost here, and you can watch it for free on the CBS Sports App.
The last time Mahomes and Brady faced each other in the playoffs came during the 2018 postseason when the Patriots beat the Chiefs 37-31 in the AFC title game. For this meeting, the stakes are much higher. Mahomes and the Chiefs will be trying to win their second straight Super Bowl, something no team has done since Brady's Patriots repeated as champs by winning a Lombardi Trophy in 2003 and 2004.
Mahomes and Brady also gave us a regular-season showdown back in Week 12 and if the Super Bowl is half as exciting as that game, then we should be in for a thriller. Back in November, the Chiefs jumped out to a 27-10 lead on the Buccaneers before holding on for a 27-24 win.
With that in mind, here's the schedule for Super Bowl LV along with how we got here.
Super Bowl LV.
Super Wild Card Weekend.
Saturday, January 9 (2) Bills 27-24 over (7) Colts: For the first time in 25 years, the Buffalo Bills have won a playoff game and they did it in dramatic fashion. The Bills jumped out to a 24-10 lead and then held on for dear life in the fourth quarter as the Colts rallied back. Josh Allen came up huge for Buffalo by accounting for 378 of the Bills' 397 total yards. Allen threw for 324 yards and a TD while also rushing for 54 yards and another TD.
(6) Rams 30-20 over (3) Seahawks: We didn't have to wait long for the first upset of the wild-card round and that's because it happened in the second game of the weekend. The Rams were able to stun the favored Seahawks thanks to a defense that smothered Russell Wilson, holding him to 11 of 27 passing and sacking him five times. Offensively, Cam Akers carried the Rams with 131 yards and one touchdown.
(5) Buccaneers 31-23 over (4) Washington: His uniform might have changed, but Tom Brady's ability to dominate in the playoffs didn't. The Buccaneers quarterback threw for 381 yards and two touchdowns in the Tampa Bay win.
Sunday, January 10 (5) Ravens 20-13 over (4) Titans: It took three years, but Lamar Jackson finally got the playoff monkey off his back by earning his first postseason win ever. The Ravens quarterback definitely earned it as he threw for 179 yards while also rushing for 137 yards. Jackson also provided the most electrifying play of the game with a 48-yard TD run in the win.
(2) Saints 21-9 over (7) Bears: New Orleans won this game in a blowout and that was mostly thanks to a Saints defense that absolutely shut down Chicago's offense. The Saints limited the Bears to just 239 yards of total offense, which set the franchise record for fewest yards allowed in a postseason game. The defense also got some help from Drew Brees, who threw for 265 yards and two touchdowns.
(6) Browns 48-37 over (3) Steelers: The Steelers had a total first-half meltdown that allowed the Browns to pick up their first playoff win since 1994. Not only did Ben Roethlisberger throw three interceptions during a brutal first half, but the Steelers also gave up a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage when the Browns recovered a fumble in the end zone after Maurkice Pouncey snapped the ball over Roethlisberger's head. It was an ugly day for the Steelers, but a memorable win for the Browns.
Divisional Round.
Saturday, January 16 (1) Packers 32-18 over (6) Rams: This was a one-score in the fourth quarter, but then Aaron Rodgers blew it open with a 58-yard touchdown pass to Allen Lazard that put Green Bay up two scores with just seven minutes left to play. The long scoring throw was part of a big game for Rodgers, who not only threw for 296 yards and two touchdowns, but he also rushed for another touchdown.
(2) Buffalo 17-3 over (6) Baltimore: The Bills are headed to their first AFC title game since 1993 and they have their defense to thank for that. Not only did they hold the high-powered Ravens to just three points, but Taron Johnson came up with the biggest play of the game when he picked off Lamar Jackson and returned it 101 yards for a touchdown in the second half.
Sunday, January 17 (1) Kansas City 22-17 over (6) Cleveland: The Chiefs jumped out to a 19-3 lead and then hung on for dear life in the second half after Patrick Mahomes went out with a concussion. With Mahomes out, the Chiefs turned to Chad Henne, who made several huge plays down the stretch, including a fourth-and-1 conversion from his own 48-yard line with just 80 seconds left that iced the game.
(5) Buccaneers 30-20 over (2) Saints: In what might have been the final game of Drew Brees' storied career, the Saints quarterback played a game that definitely won't be making it on to his career highlight reel. Brees threw three interceptions as the Saints turned the ball over four times in the 10-point loss.
Championship Sunday.
Sunday, January 24.
NFC Championship Game (5) Buccaneers 31-26 over (1) Packers: After shooting out to a 28-10 lead, it looked like the Buccaneers were going to collapse, but Tampa Bay's defense didn't let that happen. Things got interesting in the second half after Tom Brady threw three interceptions in a span of seven plays, but the Packers weren't really able to capitalize as they only managed six points on the three possessions. Although Brady struggled at times, he was good early, throwing three TD passes to help propel Tampa Bay to the win.

RIP Dr. Z. I always looked forward to his analysis.
He was the first (or one of the first) to do an NFL ???power ranking???. I recall that in the week after Drew Bledsoe was injured and Tom Brady took over as QB for the 0-2 Patriots in 2001, he rated the Patriots in last place and said that he didn??™t know if they had enough talent to win even another game. It was a rare miss for Dr. Z, one of the greats! RIP!

Esteemed NFL writer Paul 'Dr. Z' Zimmerman dies at 86.
Paul Zimmerman, the longtime Sports Illustrated NFL writer known as "Dr. Z" for his analytical approach, died Thursday. He was 86.
NBC Sports football writer Peter King confirmed Zimmerman's death. King worked with Zimmerman at Sports Illustrated, and completed Zimmerman's autobiography, "Dr. Z: The Lost Memoirs of an Irreverent Football Writer."
Zimmerman had three strokes in 2008 that ended his writing career after 29 years as Sports Illustrated's lead pro football writer.
"When I started covering football in 1984, he was Peter Gammons and Bob Ryan and Tex Maule rolled into one," King said. "His football knowledge was peerless. He knew the technical side and loved it, and he loved the personal side too."
New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick opened his news conference Friday by recognizing Zimmerman.
"Paul was a great ambassador for professional football, and I think that what he did through the years with his background and insight on the draft, I would say some of the behind-the-scenes organizational insight that he gave due to his great sources and trust that he created with so many people was pretty interesting reading in the Sports Illustrated columns," Belichick said. "I always kind of felt like Paul and Will McDonough were kind of two of the really well-connected, respected writers that covered the game, certainly when I came into the game and then for many years thereafter. So certainly a sad day to hear about his passing. He made a great contribution and certainly popularized a lot of things that today have blossomed into major, major stories and events that I'd say he was in there on the ground floor on."
Zimmerman was president of the Pro Football Writers of America during the 1982 season. He received the PFWA's highest honor, the Dick McCann Award, in 1996 for a long and distinguished contribution through coverage. In 2014, the PFWA instituted the Paul "Dr. Z" Zimmerman Award, given for lifetime achievement as an assistant coach in the NFL.

RIP Dr.
RIP!

10 years post-debilitating stroke, give or take. I hope he is at peace and, if it be God's will, in heaven.
And may his family find comfort in this time of loss.
